Travel notices to Minneapolis, should be confirmed with Cecelia!!
Everyone is on the same flight- share your info with each other so no one gets lost!
My AmeriCorps enrollment, loan forbearance, etc can all be done online.

Exercise to do monthly reports:
Access to the Google site is in the handbook. The monthly reports are in electronic format- downloadable.

Monthly reports due on the 5th both to National LISC and San Diego!
Can get feedback if give report to Jana by the 1st.
First part of report is in narrative format:
In 4 parts describe- what you did, how awesome it is, what are your problems/solutions to problems, and what are your outcomes.

Example:
Month 1 job counseling and support
12 people more than that normally come.
1 person got a new job
Gave income support counseling from an online tracking system
25 clients on income support and continuing 10 clients.

Questions
What counts as your output when working with multiple people at an organization on one case: -Any time you provide case management with a resident
Income support: ex- food stamps, rental asst, TANF, energy assistance, etc
Main key point: all numbers have to have “back-up”- explanation on how those numbers are obtained and to what do they pertain.
Don’t overwhelm yourself with monthly reports: report ~ 75%.
Should turn these in electronically

Amanda is in charge of creating the Google group.
Roberto’s suggestion- LISC AmeriCorps member around the country to contact. To connect with other people who are doing the same type of work- outside of AmeriCorps San Diego.

Time sheets (last section of the handbook)
Turn in on the 15th and on the last day of the month.
If go below or above 8 hours, explain why on the ‘Reasons’ section.
Make sure that all the columns add up. Do not count sick hours and holiday hours toward the total hours (dump those hours in the ‘Other’ section).
Robert Beach will process the time sheets rbeach@lisc.org and Cicilia is in charge of the pay checks.

Payments:
Possible to not do any fundraising in the 1,700 hours of service, but if fundraising is done it is ONLY for support of direct service program you were hired to work on.
Pay checks should’ve been mailed out already on Monday or this past weekend.

Training ideas:
Jana’s role: getting the funding for training, contacts, support
Your role in training is the development of what you want them to be: topic, agenda, coordinating training from your work for everyone

Responsible for forming the training for the first half of year: Allie, Ariadna and Amanda.

Roberto’s suggestion: get the AmeriCorps members to become members/participants of the trainings that El Cajon CDC gets from NPMS.

Allie: SOFA- financial literacy support/trainings on different topics.
Noemi: Financial budget training to fix your credit.
Fin. Literacy training is a priority, possibly for October. Budgeting, ID theft, insurance.
Creditreport.net can do your own credit report!

Jana: California public benefits training- may not be open to all members
Roberto: Time management
Case for support (off NFLI model)
Non-profit management
Tanya: Leadership training
Rick Gentry and Tom Scott- housing training. They talked about the development process for getting SD affordable Housing.
Oct. 15th- Affordable Housing Conference. (Day-long event, finance industry people in housing development) This year, Jana is looking to see if LISC can afford everyone to go. $140 per person. If your org can pay for you to go, please notify Jana. Review the agenda of the conference and let Jana know if you can’t or do not want to attend ASAP.

Hosting Monthly Meetings:
Follow format-
When it is your turn, send Jana an agenda/parking info/address and location one week before your meeting.
At the meeting, facilitate and designate a note-taker (review Stacey’s hand outs for tips)
Invite a higher up from your org to present to the group, showcase a project, or provide a tour of your site
If it relates, host a training or service project at your monthly meeting
Note taker- email notes to Jana asap after meeting

Upcoming events:
Colina Fest- Sept 26th, 2009 @ colina del sol park 5319 Orange Ave San Diego, CA 92105
Oct. 21st 3-5pm @ the Jacobs Center: showcase for showpiece training institute Neighborhood First Organizations- part of a plan to improve the neighborhood. Good networking tool- participation of major fund raisers.
Please contact Jana to volunteer with logistics, set up, or during the event!
Suggestions:
Have major trainings from experts, but dedicate a small portion of meeting to sharing information amongst us. For meetings, bring in interesting person from your site to talk about what they do/ about the site.
